Install Subliminal in Ubuntu (Command Line Subtitle Downloader)(Constantly updating)

Subliminal is nice tool for downloading single or multiple subtitles from:
  • Addic7ed
  • BierDopje
  • OpenSubtitles
  • SubsWiki
  • Subtitulos
  • TheSubDB
  • TvSubtitles

To install in linux terminal write:
  1. sudo apt-get install git-core python-pip
  2. git clone https://github.com/Diaoul/subliminal.git
  3. cd subliminal
  4. git checkout -t origin/0.7.x
  5. sudo pip install guessit==0.7.0
  6. sudo python setup.py install
To download subtitles, write:
     subliminal -l en -- The.Americans.2013.S01E02.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION.mkv
It will be downloaded to current directory. -l en sets language to English.

You can integrate Subliminal to file manager, so you wouldn't need to use command line.

  1. Install Nautilus Actions sudo apt-get install nautilus-actions
  2. Open it
  3. Create new action
  4. In Command tab write: Path: subliminal; Parameters: -f -l en -- %B
  5. Set mimetypes filter: video/* and inode/directory
  6. In Execution tab select Display output
  1. Edit > Configure custom actions...
  2. Create new custom action
  3. In command line write: subliminal -f -l en -- %N
  1. Add this file to /home/(user)/.local/share/nemo/actions
